PLAYERAUDIO / LEGAL

Terms of Service

Version date: 13 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-13.3

1. Your agreement with PlayerAudio

These Terms govern the PlayerAudio website, account platform and PlayerAudio client services maintained by the PlayerAudio community project (“we”, “us”). PlayerAudio is a community project, not a company-run service. Contact us at:

PlayerAudio community project
privacy@playeraudio.net

By creating an account and accepting these Terms, you agree to these Terms for using the project’s services. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. It is information about processing, not a request for blanket consent.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use PlayerAudio. If you are under 18 or otherwise need permission to enter this agreement under the law that applies to you, obtain permission from your parent or legal guardian before using the service.

Provide accurate account information, use an email address you control, and keep your password, authenticators, approved devices and recovery keys secure. Do not impersonate another person or share access in a way that compromises other users. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You are not automatically responsible for activity caused by a security failure outside your control.

3. Service scope and development preview

PlayerAudio provides accounts, friend connections, encrypted direct-message delivery and access to independently hosted communities. Features are being developed and may be unavailable or interrupted. The Windows preview includes encrypted messaging, private and community calls, webcam and screen sharing. The installer is currently unsigned. Feature descriptions marked as planned are not a promise of present availability or a fixed delivery date.

PlayerAudio is not an emergency communications service. Keep a separate way to contact emergency services. Maintain your own recovery keys and appropriate backups of information you need. We will exercise reasonable care in operating the service; mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Current account registration is free. These Terms do not authorize charges, recurring subscriptions or automatic paid upgrades. Any future paid offering will have its price, cancellation rules and applicable consumer information presented separately before purchase.

4. Independent communities

Community servers are operated by their own hosts. A host may set membership rules, assign permissions, moderate its community and process connection and membership information. Read that host’s rules and privacy information before joining. A listing or connection through PlayerAudio does not make the host a representative of the PlayerAudio project.

We remain responsible for our own platform and legal obligations. A host remains responsible for its own service and conduct. Losing access to a community does not itself delete your PlayerAudio account or copies held by other participants.

5. Acceptable use

Use the service lawfully and respect other people’s rights. Do not distribute child sexual abuse material, make credible threats, harass or dox people, facilitate fraud, distribute malware, send spam, unlawfully disclose private information, or infringe copyright or other rights. Do not bypass access controls, misuse another person’s credentials, disrupt the service or probe accounts or systems without authorization. Report suspected security issues privately through our contact address.

You may not use automation to evade restrictions or overload the service. Reasonable, authorized integrations remain subject to applicable technical limits. Local community rules may add requirements but cannot authorize unlawful conduct.

6. Your content and encryption

You retain your rights in content you provide. You grant us only the non-exclusive permission needed to host, transmit, synchronize and display that content to the people you choose and to operate and secure the service. This permission does not transfer ownership or grant a general advertising or resale license. Make sure you have the rights or permission to share your content.

Supported chat content is encrypted on client devices. The platform stores encrypted messages and recovery/history bundles and is not designed to hold conversation decryption keys. Encryption does not hide all metadata and cannot prevent recipients from copying or reporting content, or protect an already compromised device. Public profile information and account emails are not end-to-end encrypted chats.

An account password reset does not recover your encrypted conversation keys. If you lose both access to an approved device and your recovery key, encrypted history may become inaccessible. Do not send us passwords, private keys, authenticator secrets or recovery keys.

7. Reports, restrictions and review

Use Report user or Report server in the client to send a report to platform administrators. User reports include up to the last three available messages from the reported person in the selected conversation, shown to you before submission. You can also report unlawful content, abuse, security concerns or an account restriction to privacy@playeraudio.net. Include the relevant account or community, available identifiers or links, the reason for your report and a way to reply. Share only evidence you are entitled to share. Because messages are encrypted, we may need information supplied by a participant to assess a report.

We may restrict specific features or suspend an account where reasonably necessary to address a serious or repeated breach, protect users or service security, or comply with law. We will use a proportionate response and, where lawful and practicable, explain the reason and how to request review. Urgent protective action may precede notice. You can request a review by replying or contacting us with relevant information. These Terms do not limit any statutory reporting or appeal rights.

8. Ending use and account closure

You may stop using PlayerAudio at any time. Request account closure or deletion at our contact address from your registered email where possible. We may request proportionate verification to prevent someone else deleting your account. There is currently no self-service account-deletion control.

Closure may remove access to the service and encrypted history. It does not recall copies already received by other people or stored by independent hosts. We handle deletion requests, necessary exceptions and retained data as described in the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

9. Responsibility and your statutory rights

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or mandatory product liability. For ordinary negligence, liability is limited to breach of essential contractual duties and the foreseeable damage typical of this agreement, to the extent permitted by law. Essential duties are those needed to perform the agreement and on which users may reasonably rely.

Mandatory rights concerning digital services, defects, remedies, withdrawal or consumer protection remain unaffected. These Terms do not require you to waive statutory remedies, accept compulsory private arbitration or pay a blanket indemnity.

10. Changes and applicable law

We may update these Terms for changes in the service, security requirements or law. We will identify the new version and provide reasonable advance notice of material changes where practicable. Where an existing agreement requires your acceptance, we will request it; merely publishing an update does not automatically establish your consent. Urgent legally required or protective changes may need shorter notice.

German law applies, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections under the law of their habitual residence where applicable. Statutory jurisdiction rules apply; consumers are not required by these Terms to bring claims exclusively in Flensburg.
